What Is Retail ID?

Retail ID is a new feature that links every cannabis product to a unique, consistent identifier, making it easier than ever for test data, product details, and compliance information to flow seamlessly between cultivators, manufacturers, distributors, and retailers.

Instead of juggling spreadsheets, manually updating COAs, or retyping product information, Retail ID automates the process. Each SKU carries a persistent, shareable ID that connects uniform test data across the entire supply chain—with minimal effort.

Retail ID Workflow

Metrc Retail ID is a unique QR code assigned to each individual cannabis product unit. This code links that specific item to detailed information stored in Metrc – such as its origin, lab testing results, Certificate of Analysis (COA), and other compliance data.

This code travels across the supply chain, so products are able to be labeled at the Brand or Manufacturer, transported by the distributor, and scanned by the Retailer - without any additional labeling.

How Canix is Helping Customers with Retail ID

Canix’s Retail ID integration is build directly in its dynamic label maker - so you can use Retail ID directly in your existing workflow.

It’s been in production for several months now, and is helping customers save time, eliminate re-labeling, and make important information available to consumers.

“Retail ID with Canix is an easy solution to make uniform test data available to customers and retailers with very little extra work. Attached to each product with little to no effort, it's a no brainer.”
Glacial Brands

  • Eliminated Re-Labeling: With Retail ID, a product can be labeled at the brand or manufacturer, and scanned at the retailer. There’s no longer any need to re-label.
  • Enhanced Consumer Trust: Consumers can scan the Retail ID after purchase, and see the entire testing history and lineage of the product.
  • Uniform Test Data Available to Retailers and Distributors: Retailers and distributors are now able to access test results on every individual SKU
  • Enhanced Traceability: Now, if an individual unit is misplaced, it’s easy to go back in and see what original Source Package the unit originated from.
  • Save Hours of Time: Time previously spend labeling, or coordinating the movement of test results is saved.
